Renovation of the viaduct.

The aim is to ensure the structure has a long-term future. It dates back to 1902.
The works consist in renewing the railway track, carrying out some metallic repairs and stripping and repainting the viaduct.

The viaduct is a railway engineering structure on the Castelnaudary to Rodez line. It crosses the deep valley of the Viaur between Rodez and Albi. It is located in the municipalities of Tauriac-de-Naucelle (Aveyron) and Tanus (Tarn).

This bridge has been listed as a historical monument since 1984.

Spécificités techniques

The steel bridge is assembled using rivets like a meccano bridge.

It consists of two articulated and balanced overhanging beams (cantilever technique).

The central arch is formed by two symmetrical carcasses which join together at the middle of the bridge by means of an articulated keystone.

The purpose of the bridge was to enable the Carmaux-Rodez railway track to cross the Viaur and to link the Tarn and Aveyron banks of the Ségala.

460 metres long, 116 metres above the river.  It is 6 metres wide at the top, 25 metres at its base.
