The aqueduct is a suspended engineering structure 148 metres long, supporting a drinking water pipe 3 metres in diameter. It was built in 1868.
Pathology: Severe corrosion of the structure’s cables.
Renovation: This consisted in replacing all of the suspension cables and the cable saddles.
Mission: Modelling and justifying new cable saddles that can be installed around the existing ones.
Complexity: Design and justification of a part that must withstand extreme loads while integrating into the existing structure in a confined space perched at the top of the pylons.
