16th bridge over the Rhône and first engineering structure in construction for 30 years in the Capital of the Gauls.

This radiating arch bridge will be like a new “Lyon Gateway” on the Rhône. It will perform two functions, carrying the T1 tramway and enabling “soft” circulation.

The bridge will be 260 metres long. Next to the tramway platform there will be a cycle track in both directions, a wide pavement and a viewing point equipped with urban furniture to make the most of this unique location at the joining of the Rhône and Saône rivers.

Spécificités techniques

Structure with three metallic decks, including a central 150 m bow-string span above the Rhône.

Highly asymmetrical section due to lateral cantilevering between 5 and 9 m in width for soft circulation (pedestrians and bicycles), so that load descents on the support points will be very off-centre.

P1 pier: The most complex pier with foundations on 16 tubed piles at 1,600 at the bottom of the Rhône (depth approximately 12 m) - Footing 3.00 m thick - 2 drums 14.00 m x 2.00 m x 9.35 m in height surmounted by a solid portal cap beam (800 m3) into which the deck is embedded by means of 75 mm pre-stress bars (2 x 52 bars).
